Steve Bacardi was born in Rochester, New York, in 1956 and raised in the area by his parents, who were both from Rochester. His mother worked part-time as a secretary; his father was a manufacturing worker at General Motors. Bacardi attended elementary school at what was School No. 37, which is now Dr. Walter Cooper Academy School No.10. He attended several local high schools. After graduating, he joined the Army Reserves for six years before attending St. John Fisher College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting. At the time of this interview, he works as a certified public accountant (CPA) in Rochester and volunteers as a coach for the Genesee Valley Little League.

In this interview Steve Bacardi discusses growing up in the 19th Ward, moving to Fairport, and how Rochester has changed. He explains how his family came to Rochester, his time in basic training, and why he went to college. He also discusses his children, how people view the 19th Ward, and his love of baseball.
