Nazaret Mora (b. 1993) was born in the Bronx to two Dominican parents from Santo Domingo. While living in the Dominican Republic, Mora’s father was a business owner and her mother was a schoolteacher. After relocating to the United States in the 1980s, her father took a janitorial position and her mother became a nanny. Mora was raised to observe both American and Dominican traditions. She attended public school in the Bronx before pursuing a degree in Social Work at Nazareth College.

In this interview, Mora discusses her parents’ education and their occupations both in the Dominican Republic and in the United States. She describes her own schooling experiences and how she came to study at Nazareth College. Mora talks about her customs and her strong ties to her Dominican heritage. She also depicts the Dominican community in the Bronx. The interview touches on a range of additional topics including religion, music, values, culture, as well as American and Dominican holidays.
