Elizabeth Rodriguez was born in 1974 and raised by her Puerto Rican parents in Rochester, New York, alongside her five siblings. She attended Roberto Clemente School No. 8, Frederick Douglass Middle School, and Edison Career and Technology High School. She went on to work in various positions in healthcare before opening her own bakery, Tu Amor Cakery, in Rochester.

In this interview, Rodriguez discusses growing up in a Spanish-speaking household, living briefly in Puerto Rico in her teens, and her family life growing up. Rodriguez describes her work in healthcare, how she began her bakery, and her work with local schools. She also discusses some of the traditions that she and her family share surrounding the holidays, the importance of food in her family, and her relationship with religion.
