Alicia Kuligouski-Caviano was born in 1988 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She moved to Rochester, New York, when she was 17 years old to attend school at the University of Rochester. She is a mother and a registered nurse practitioner finishing her degree at the University of Buffalo at the time of this interview.  

In this interview, Alicia Kuligouski-Caviano discusses cooking Mexican meals with her grandmother, visiting her family in Mexico and the United States, and learning Spanish in college. She touches upon her grandmother’s influence on her life as well as her career. She also discusses holiday traditions with family, her grandmother’s experience with discrimination compared to her own experience, and the role of religion in her life.
