Alexci Reyes was born in 1974 in Rochester, New York, to parents who both moved to the United States from Puerto Rico in the 1960s. At the time of this interview, Reyes works in the Rochester City School District as an English Language Arts teacher with Bilingual Extension for 7-12 grade. He also writes curriculum for Latino Studies and works on Culturally Responsive Teaching systems in English Language Arts and Social Studies classes. 

In this interview, Alexci Reyes discusses his memories of growing up, his parents and four siblings, and celebrations with his family. He describes passing down traditions and values to his children, generational differences among his family, learning Spanish, the role of religion in his life, and discrimination he and his family have faced. He also discusses his work in creating resources to teach Latino history, and the importance of learning about Latino history.
