Engraving, City Mills at Child’s Basin

1838
Picture

Built in 1831, this Rochester flour mill was located just north of the Erie Canal on the west side of the Genesee River, between the Genesee Aqueduct and the Main Street Bridge. The back of the building faced the river; the front faced Child’s Basin port. The boat seen here is docked in the port.
