Letter, Irene Conole to her parents
A letter from Irene Conole to her parents explaining that she has not written more often because she ran out of stamps. She asks for addresses for Mrs. Stowell and Jim Lindburgh and informs her parents that she will be bringing one female and two male friends home with her in February, one of which she has been dating. She comments on the weather and asks after her father and brother, James.

Dear Mom and Dad.
Sorry about not writing oftener but
I ran out of stamps. I think I’m going
to send my letters with 3¢ stamps from
now on for it only takes an extra day.
I wrote Bonnie and she answered.
She still as nutty as she was before
she got married.
Will you send me Mrs. Stowell’s address
and also Jim Lindburgh’s. You’ll find his
in a book I have upstairs on the dresser
or in the box of letters I have. Not the box
with my letters that I received in the Navy.
I am coming home for a weekend in
February and I am bringing a girl I chum
around with plus two fellows who are
very nice. I have been seeing this one
for three weeks now. He picks me up
every night from the club and brings
me to the barracks.
I received a card from Sheilah and
she is living in her new home now.

I sleep all day or go outside the
base and do some shopping.
I’ll be glad when Thursday comes for
we get paid. I spent most of my money
on three pairs of shoes that I needed and
some jewelry.
I’ve heard that you had quite a snow
storm there. It has been raining every
day for the past three days. In the evenings
it gets so foggy that you would think
you were in London.
I have to get ready for work now and
there is an extra letter floating between us.
Give James my love and how is Dad’s
bowling coming along?
Cheerio for now.
Love and Kisses
Irene
