A letter from Irene Conole to her parents. Irene writes from the hospital where she is recovering from a broken jaw. She reports that she is healing nicely and that she has been grateful for the time to rest. She looks forward to Aunt Anna coming to visit and says she was not too happy with Rosie and her friends when they visited. Sheilah, a friend from Rochester, has had another baby, and a friend from boot camp is getting a new car and wants to drive home together sometime. Irene discusses hospital visits from her friends at the Enlisted Men’s Club, where she also recently met some men from Rochester. A Marine leaving the base ran into another car and was killed instantly.
