Dear Jim
Anyone would enjoy such an immense dividend,-
I certainly do. A few years ago my income outside
the Gleason Works was bigger than the Gleason Wks divi-
dends but it is different now.
If you spent over $56,000 from the fund last year
certainly $50,000 would be too little this year. It
should be at least $60,000 and I am willing to have it m
more if you think it advisable. I prefer to spend
part of my money on the Gleason Works men than to give
it away outside. Though some of the outside giving is
pleasant. I gave most of my California property to
a boys’ Industrial School under Doctor Hanna’s patronage
Now they are naming their new Hall which I hear is
very handsome, William Gleason Hall. That would not
mean much to Father. But Doctor Hanna is to deliver
the dedication speech and tell the boys what to emulate
in Father’s life. And once Father told me he would
like to have Joseph O’Conner write his obituary or Dr
Hanna. So he gets his wish.
I am to meet Eleanor at the Main St Lincoln
Monday morning Dec 30 at 10 o’clock to deliver the
bonds to pay my notes and take up my Gleason Wks
stock. It would help if you could meet us with the
notes and stock. Otherwise Eleanor will take the bonds
to the Gleason Wks office and make the transfer there.

Yours,
Kate
