Letter, Kate Gleason to James Gleason

William Gleason,
Manufacturer of Machinists Tools,
Office, Brown’s Race,

Rochester, N.Y., October 10th. 1888

Dear Jim,-
Mamma did not call my attention to your touching appeal
for more cash until to-day and I hasten to send you a N.Y. dft. for
$25     It was made out to father’s order by mistake at the bank.
Hope you will have no trouble in negotiating my endorsement.
I see I forgot to enclose Archie’s letter yesterday so I put
it in now. You must let me know about this and the Yacht Club as
soon as possible.
George Scott did’nt impress me as being so very
wonderful after all. To put it mildly, he seems to be conceited.
If I wanted to be severe I should say that he seems to have an im-
pression that he is ‘the tad-pole of an arch-angel’.
Frank Nugent will write you in a day or two and when you answer his
letter, let me advise you to put in some message for Gertrude.
By the way I saw the picnic that I was anticipating for last night
and it is my opinion that either Emma is more interested in Mr. Scot
than she ever cared to admit or else she was so especially fascin-
ating to him in order to have his scalp again dangling at her belt.
Very sincerely yours,
The Office Boss of the Gleason Iron Wks.
The Rochester Wheel Co. have paid their bill.
