Ithaca, N.Y., Apr 27 1890
Dear Kate;
Your letter with the
cuff buttons enclosed, was
received. The cuff buttons are
properly admired. The old ones
will doubtless turn up one of these
days. What is the exact date of
your Ithaca engagement? I should
know by this time but want to make
sure. My reason is that perhaps
the D.U. trip down the lake,
in a steamer with their best
girls, could be arranged for
that date. It has been the
custom to have a blow out down
lake once a year in the spring term.
I received a letter from Emma
this week and will answer it

immediately.
How are the gear planers progressing.
The one for S. Morgan Smith must
be shipped by this time.
The date of your arrival here is
Saturday May 17 is it not?
Say you want to arrange your
trip so that you will get a few
minutes sleep each night, if you
dont you will spoil half your
fun. I have a recitation at
12 O Clock on Saturdays but if
necessary I suppose I could cut.
This picnic I speak of has
always been from about half past
two in the afternoon for a start
and come home by moonlight.
Couldnt you stay here until Monday
[page 3]
or how will you arrange it.
You spoke of getting to New York on
Sunday: how will you make
connections and get some rest in
between.
Yours
Jim.
