Letter, James Gleason to Kate Gleason
A letter to Kate Gleason from her brother, James Gleason. Jim discusses the unlikelihood that the Ide Company will buy a planer from their family’s tool shop. He also talks about preparations for Kate’s upcoming visit to Cornell and asks her to send him money.

Dear Kate,-
Your two letters received, one
containing a copy of the letter to Ide.
You are perhaps right in guessing
that Mr Ide will not order a Gleason
planer. Frank says that his
father has made a proposition to
the Powell concern about taking their
planer if they will take an engine
in trade. If they dont accept this
proposition he will Mr Ide will stop
at Rochester while on a trip he
intends to take to New York soon.
The Powell planer is quoted $100. less
than the Gleason and they say it
weighs considerably more.
Perhaps Mr Michel could do something
better even than Powell. He dont build
a planer but might try it this order.

We will have the band out playing
their favorite piece Annie Laurie
when you reach Ithaca.
Do you remember Miss Nurse?
One of the K.K.G. of 86. Perhaps
that name is spelled wrong but
that is the way it sounds. She
says she knew you.
Please send on the remainder of
my allowance and I will see how
far it goes and report accordingly.
The letter to A.S. Ide & Son will
capture the order if it is not already
placed. You don’t don’t want [^]or need it very
much do you?
Yours
Jim.
