Letter, James Gleason to Gleason Works office
A letter from James Gleason to the Gleason Works office. Jim writes from New York City, where he and his wife Miriam are about to embark on a trip to Europe aboard the Ryndam cruise ship. He confesses that he forgot to pack business cards and requests that they be sent to him in Paris along with a tool he will need. He reports on a business conversation about machine innovations.

We are all ready
to sail. I forgot to bring Business
Cards. Mrs Blakeney has the key
to our House Miriam has written
her to g deliver the cards to you.
Please send them to Paris care
Fenwick. Also send along to the
same address the large pair of
width of Tooth Calipers; Lewis has
them. I will need these calipers before

Fox comes over.
We visited the Reindam this morning.
The Hollanders certainly have everything
clean.
Miriam is out for a good time this
morning she likes the looks of the ship.
Mr Broomall of the Christiana Machine
Co. has copied the Friction Trips for
the Tool Blocks from our Generator
on his new machine. Otherwise the
machine is like the cut of a German
Two Tool Former Type Machine that
we used to have in the safe.
I told Mr Broomall that I would
get him a cut of this German Machine

while on this trip. He thought he
had the Gear Planer Business
cinched with the Two Tool idea
so it must have come hard to be
told that Two Tool machines were
built long ago.
He was surprised to hear that we
had a Two Tool machine at work
in Philadelphia.
Business is very quiet in Philadelphia
same as everywhere else.
Yours
Jim.
