A letter from James Gleason to Mr. F. Mandon. Jim approves of the plan to set up an Assistance Fund for the employees of the Fenwick Company with money willed to Mandon by Kate Gleason. He believes that Kate would have also approved of the plan, for she had established a fund to provide death, retirement, sick, and disability benefits for Gleason Works employees with one third of her stock income.

Letter, James Gleason to F. Mandon

Dear Mr. Mandon:

I have your letter of January 18th.

Your plan for using the money, which was left you by my
sister, Kate, to found an Assistance Fund for the
employees of the Fenwick Company, is, I think, a
splendid one. I know that it is a plan which Kate would
have approved of whole-heartedly for she did a somewhat
similar thing herself for Gleason employees. The income
from one third of her Gleason Works common stock was
given to the Gleason Fund which is a Fund instituted to
pay death, retirement, sick and disability benefits to
our employees. I know, therefore, that your thought
would have pleased her very much. It is a fine tribute
to her and at the same time it is a fine testimonial to
your own unselfish generosity.

I shall transmit your remembrances to Andrew and to
Eleanor and I know that they will want to be remembered
to you. I hope that you are well. With kindest personal
regards and all good wishes, I am

Sincerely yours,

James E. Gleason
