20 August 1953
Dear Mom & Dad,
Well Aunt Anna left today at
12:20 pm. I do believe she had a nice
time. On my days off, which were last
Sunday and Monday, we went a few
places. Janet went with us Sunday. I
had this fellow’s car, who is the assistant
Chief Master at Arms of the station, and
I never asked him for his car either. He
kept asking me if I wanted it and there
are very few people he lets have his
car. I was honored. Oh my!
I think Aunt Anna is going to
spend a week end with you. So let me
know what she says about her stay
here. She liked the fellows that I work
with at the club. They all liked her too.
I received a letter from Helen
Post and she seems to be doing fine.
Her boyfriend was sick for awhile and
she says that they get along better than
ever.
Boy Mike did do all right on his
birthday! The five dollars is for his

birthday. I’m taking a chance, I know,
in sending it this way but I don’t
know when I’ll be outside the gate
again to get a money order.
I bought a pair of low shoes. They
are something like loafers and we can
wear with our grey uniforms and the
blue uniforms. Boy they are comfortable.
Aunt Anna bought me my Christmas
present already. It’s a housecoat and
it comes to my knees. It’s called a
duster and is very petty. The color
scheme is blue, gold and white. She
got it new so that I can take it with
me when I go to Jacksonville. She also
told me that Aunt Mayme called her
one evening when she was in bed and
asked her if I had a boyfriend. That
was due to the tea leaf reader seeing
a ring in her cup. I’ve heard everything
now. Does Aunt Mayme know that Aunt
Anna came down to visit me? Would
you find out what I could possibly
get Aunt Anna for Christmas? See if
she has a good black purse.

Monday I have been invited to spend
the day with this Chief’s wife. Her
husband is Chief of Intelligence on this
base and they are in their early thirties.
We get along good and the girl use to
be a telephone operator. They have two
children and they are sweet. The chief
said that he would help me with my
arrangements on the flight to Florida.
I wish I could get in Intelligence work
and now they (the Chief and the other
fellow Cunningham) tell me quite a few
things.
Well I guess this is all the dirt
now so I’ll close for now.
Love and Kisses
Irene
