Letter, Irene Conole to her parents
A letter from Irene Conole to her parents. Irene assures her parents that her Navy life insurance will carry over to civilian life. She writes that she plans to attend Theresa’s graduation when she comes home to visit with her friend Janet. Irene reports that she had her loose tooth pulled and it is causing her some pain. She tells her parents that the club she works at is getting air conditioning installed and that she has met a number of French sailors on base.

Dear Mom and Dad,
Thanks for the picture of Mike. He
sure is a doll. Received a letter
from Henry and he gave me a blow
by blow description of his trip to, at
and from Elmira. He should be a
newspaperman.
As for my insurance, I was
asking Janet about it since she works
in the Administration bldg, and she
says that we can carry it over in
civilian life. She also claims that
insurance men will say that. The
insurance Yeoman here makes all the
arrangements with a Company and
when I pick up my leave papers I am
going to see the Yeoman and double check.
Theresa sent me the graduation
invitation and I hope I don’t forget
to bring it home with me. If she
can’t get one for Janet that’s okay.
As for Mr. Taibi, I didn’t know
that he had gotten married again. Can’t
see it.
I didn’t see the crowning of the

2. Queen on T.V. but I saw the decorations
of the streets in a magazine. Sure
was beautiful.
Last Monday I had the tooth pulled
that I knocked loose. Didn’t feel a
thing. Went back yesterday for it
bothered me. I thought maybe it was
due to my cold and it might have
settled in it. So the Lieutenant looked
it over and said it was coming
along fine. He showed me where the
fracture healed. It’s a straight line.
He told me that it is going to be
sore for a while so now I’m not
worried anymore.
I was received a letter from
Miss Potthast, the woman with the
Pioneers in Baltimore and she
invited me to come up to her office
if I ever get to Baltimore. So when
I come back off of leave, this fellow
I see quite a bit of, is going to take
me up to see her on a Friday after-
noon.
Excuse the scribbling and mistakes
for I am writing very fast so I can
get it off in this noon’s mail. Don’t
know if I am going to make it or

They have finally started in-
stalling the air condition in the club.
There are five units. In case one
goes on the bum we’ll have the
others. They made a new stage and
started decorating the club too. I picked
the color for the paint job and Thursday
I have to go to the Board of Governors
meeting for they want my view
points on the redecorations. When
the manager or the third class are
not around I am in complete charge.
We have around fifty French
sailors aboard and Sunday night
some of them came up to the club.
A couple of them couldn’t speak English
so I was speaking French. I told
them about taking it in high school.
I played shuffleboard with three of
them and what a riot they were. I
won three out of three. They are
visiting the Naval Air stations and
flying our planes but not our jets.
I bought a couple of detective
magazines and in one of them
it had the Hetenye case, the minister
from Buffalo and also the one Aunt

4. Anna wrote me about.
Well I guess I’ll do my ironing
now. So I’ll say bye for now.
Love and Kisses
