Article, “If It Should Happen”

A full-page newspaper spread published by the Rochester Times-Union in May 1955 as an “Atomic Primer” series “describing how civilians can act to save their lives and property in the event of an atomic attack.” In it, Robert Abbott encourages Rochesterians to consider building bomb shelters in their homes.  Abbott describes his own such shelter, a photograph of which is featured in the spread.
